Super Gelding Promotion Program

The goals of the committee are to establish a program that will promote gelding within our industry and to make a difference in the genetic heritage of the American Shetland Pony Club, American Miniature Horse Registry and American Show Pony Registry. We plan to do this by providing support and incentive to breeders and owners to geld. In addition, we want to see this organizations registered geldings provided with a better quality of life by providing an avenue of longevity in the show ring.

This committee will serve as an officially recognized committee of the ASPC/AMHR/ASPR. It will operate under the discretion and control of the Board of Directors of the organization.

The committee has outlined a program known as the Supreme Gelding Award and the Super Gelding Award. These programs will begin for the 2010 show season.

All geldings registered with their respective registries will be eligible to participate in the program. The programs will require an entry form and participation fee. More information will be made available through the website - www.supergelding.com - when the program is finalized.

You may also contact the Committee Chair Lewella Tembruell at lewellamay@hotmail.com.

The breeder and the owner of the winning geldings will receive recognition.

The American Shetland Pony Club was founded in 1888 as a registry to keep the pedigrees for all the Shetlands that were being imported from Europe at that time.

It has expanded to four separate breeds under one club: The American Shetland Pony, American Miniature Horse, American Show Pony, and National Show Pony.

We are the oldest and most versatile registry for small equine in the United States today and are located at 81 B East Queenwood, Morton, IL 61550, (309) 263-4044. You can call or write for a free brochure on any of our breeds.
